The Daddy Exercises

Fatherhood so far has been an awesome journey, one that I’m slowly getting used to, 27 days in. Esther is such an angel and every moment with her is an adventure. I’m currently assigned to diaper duties, or what I call dadaper duties and I’m thanking my kettlebell swings every time I need to change her diaper. If you don’t believe me, wait till you get a kid. hehe. Aside from that, I also do the burping and changing and bath time. Mama Bituin and I take turns in trying to put her to sleep also. It’s an awesome experience but I won’t lie, it’s very tiring.

Aside from the lack of sleep that all first time parents experience, as a father (and if you are willing to be part of your infant’s life, which I hope you guys are), you will be handling a lot of baby duties as well. I thank God that I’m in the fitness industry so I’m in pretty good conditioning and my strength is OK. Since I preach functional training I thought I’d make this short video on some of the new functions a dad will have and what you can do to prepare for them. Enjoy! :)

  1. Idol ka talaga, Coach Chappy! Integrating fitness into the things we do… Can you do a series on exercise to minimize injuries from work like back pain, neck strain, etc? That would be great!

  2. Hey Coach, it’s me again. :-) A friend of mine gave birth 4 months ago. And now her kid is getting bigger. I know all the carrying her kid around would produce some strain on her body (back, shoulders, arms?). Was wondering if there are exercises you can advise for Moms like her?
