I’m not really a fan of cereals for breakfast but last week I went grocery shopping at healthy options and found these goodies. The Cereal has 9 grams of protein per serving at a hundred calories, that’s pretty decent. And it tastes ok. Sugar isn’t too high and it’s fortified with vitamin B and has ample fiber. I also got flax seeds from healthy options as well as mixed nuts and mixed it all with Soy Milk, plus I had an orange for my fruit fix. This made for a healthy filling and delicious breakfast.
A note on flax seeds: A table spoon goes a long way and is packed with B vitamins, fiber, antioxidants and omega-3. Some people might develop irregular bowel movements though because of the fiber but I was fine. It’s one of the most nutritious seeds out there for sure.
Though it is a bit pricey, in the long run, I ended saving by skipping my mid-moring meal. All in all a serving of the meal would cost you around 100-120 pesos which is a bit pricey for a home meal. I say it’s an investment in health.
I ate this at 7 in the morning and I expected to get hungry at around 10 but because of the flax seeds and nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts), it kept me full and satisfied until lunch time. Total caloric intake is estimated at 250-300 calories but it stays in you longer and keeps you going for the day. A perfect way to start the day.
